Setup Guide

Five steps to full protection

Five steps to full protection. Most people are set up in about five minutes.

Get the app

MyGuardian is currently in private beta. Request an invitation at myguardianinc.com via Get Early Access. When your invitation arrives by email, follow its link to install the app on your phone.

Sign in with Google and grant permissions

Sign in with your Google account — this is how MyGuardian saves recordings, transcripts, and AI summaries directly to your own Google Drive. Then grant the permissions the app needs to protect you:

  • Microphone — Always Allow, so voice activation works with the screen locked
  • Camera, for video recording
  • Location — Always, with Precise Location, for GPS logging during incidents
  • Contacts, to designate your trusted contacts

Train your wake phrase

Choose a custom phrase and repeat it a few times so MyGuardian learns your voice. Pick something you wouldn't say in normal conversation but could say naturally under stress. Once trained, saying your phrase activates Arrest Mode in under 3 seconds — even with your phone locked and in your pocket.

Add up to 5 trusted contacts

Choose the people who should receive your live stream, GPS location, and alerts if you ever trigger Arrest Mode. Ask each person first — their express consent is required, and they should know what a real alert looks like and what you'd want them to do.

Run a test alert

Before you ever need it for real, run a test: say your wake phrase, confirm recording starts, and check that your trusted contacts receive the notification and can open the live stream. Then cancel the session — your contacts will be told it was a test.

You're protected. From here, MyGuardian listens for your phrase in low-power mode. If anything ever goes wrong during setup, email support@myguardianinc.com — the team typically responds within 24 hours.
Remember: MyGuardian is a documentation tool, not a safety device. In an emergency, call 911 first.
